The German Mycological Society (DGfM) trains PilzsachverständigeDGfM (‘Specialists in Fungi’) in educational institutions admitted by DGfM, examines PilzsachverständigeDGfM and organizes continuation courses. These courses are obligatory. Examination regulations guarantee a general and high standard. After passing the examination PilzsachverständigeDGfM are able to give public advice (in schools, adult evening classes, associations, advisory places for fungi) regarding edibility and toxicity of fungi and regarding their role for man and biosphere. PilzsachverständigeDGfM are able to control markets regarding fungi to be sold, they give lectures and lead excursions.
The German Mycological Society (DGfM) is responsible
for and co-ordinates the education of Fachberater für
Mykologie univ. (‘Consultant for Mycology’).The curriculum
is run in universities and in educational institutions admitted
by DGfM. It enables the consultants to write expert
reviews on fungi in and on buildings, in hospitals, in and on foodstuffs,
on materials and artworks. They advise in ecological, agricultural
and silvicultural problems. Examination regulations guarantee a
general and high standard.
